TED has been setting the bar regarding top-notch conferences with its annual gathering in California. Since 2009 it has expanded the presence of the flagship TED Conference to Oxford (UK) and now also Mysore (India). TED India will be taking place at the Infosys campus on November 4-7 2009.
TEDIndia offers a vision of the future that’s rich with invention, entrepreneurship, cross-disciplinary problem-solving, unexpected solutions and sensory delight. Hosted in a country that’s reinventing itself – and reshaping the world.
One of the main characteristics of TED is that, apart from the 18 minute conference format and gathering of excellent speakers, to participate you don’t just have to pay a big sum (though the Indian edition will be rather cheap -2,400 USD- compared to California or Oxford’s) but fulfill a registration process that does not guarantee participation. TED organizers want to be sure that you
are likely, in our judgment, to be a strong contributor to the TED community and/or the ideas discussed at TED.
So TED is not so much about the money (after all it’s an NGO) but the commitment to their ideal of communicating ideas worth spreading. They also fave a TED Fellows program for remarkable individuals that cannot afford the ticket price.
Keep an eye on the Speakers program page for further details on the personalities that will go on stage at TED India (the list of speakers will be disclosed 2 months prior to the conference).
