WPtouch Plugin for WordPress

WPtouch Plugin for WordPress

I have just installed a new WordPress Plugin, WPTouch, that optimizes your website when accessed online from an iPhone/iPod Touch (see screenshots below). Though it’s not a real app, you can add the site to your home screen and it will appear with a dedicated icon and you will have direct access to the content of the site. To do this just open conferencebasics.com from Safari and then click the “+” button and select “Add to Home Screen”. That’s it!

From the official website:

More than just a plugin, WPtouch is an entire theme package for your WordPress website. Modeled after Apple’s app store design specs, WPtouch makes your WordPress website load lightning fast on touch mobile devices, show your content beautifully, all while not interfering with your regular theme.

According to the developer it should also optimize your blog for Android, Opera Mini mobile, Palm Pre and BlackBerry Storm (and iPhone and iPod Touch as said above). You can download the plugin and read the reviews from the WordPress.org website.

I’m still playing with the settings, but until now everything seems to be working ok. Follow some screenshots from Conference Basics seen through an iPhone:
